An old red Chevy car sits outside an abandoned home in the small town of Hubbard, Saskatchewan. It was a rainy, overcast day so I had to make the best of the situation. I waited for the rain to stop for just a brief moment so that I could get a perfect reflection in the pool of water to add an extra dimension to the photo. I shot at ground level with my wide angle lens (Canon 17-40).
Digital Processing
The original image was quite flat and lacked drama. This is a single shot, no HDR processing, but there is a trick to this look. I used the Lightroom preset from Trey Ratcliff called “HDR-in-Lightroom – On Drugs” and then further refined the photo by adding contrast and clarity to the center of the image. Check out my blog post on Lightroom101.com for more on Trey’s presets (worth the money).
